what we’re

doing here

You’ve been alive thousands of days, and with a bit of luck thousands more are just around the corner. I’d like the one or two I spend with you to reflect the ones I don’t.

a few minutes in a

Lifetime

My time spent with you is just a pitstop on a much longer journey. It’s a few minutes in a lifetime of minutes, so why not stay true to the story that’s already being told? Shooting in and around your own neighborhoods/homes will memorialize your lives much better than a jaunt in a space you rarely go to. A cup of coffee at your local place, perhaps a picnic, or maybe a garden walk, things you can show to your future and say,

“this was us”.

When to book

I’m able to schedule your session Tuesday through Thursday and ideally we will be shooting in the morning, or whenever works best for your kids schedule. If it is absolutely impossible to plan on a weekday let me know, I tend to be busy on the weekends (that wedding life) but do have availability here and there.

Sessions don’t take too long and it’s best to try and focus on transitional periods in the day. Activities are a must, whether that be heading to the park or playing in the backyard. Having something going on to distract from photos and keep the kids engaged is wonderful and will make the whole process go down a bit easier.

A group of four people, two adults and two children, hugging and smiling closely together indoors.
A young girl in a dress, sitting on a cushion and smiling, while an adult man sits nearby, smiling back. A woman is holding a baby, with part of her arm and body visible, on the left side of the image. The scene appears to be inside a home with a curtain, a wall hanging, and some toys or objects around.

A couple walking on a sandy beach near the ocean during sunset, with the Golden Gate Bridge visible in the background. The man is holding a jacket over his shoulder, and the woman is pregnant, holding her belly, both smiling and engaged in conversation.

What to expect

Look y’all, photos can be super awkward. So let’s just hang out, the photos will come naturally.

These sessions are really about coming together. It’s a chance to capture moments that tell your story, showcase creativity, and illustrate the love you share.

How long your session is depends on you and your family. I know taking pictures is a stress inducing activity, but the longer we can take the better photos you will get. My general approach to the session is very relaxed, I’ll be taking my time and not trying to rush anything along. A huge part of my workflow during sessions is taking time to build connections with all y’all, that’s my primary goal. If everyone is comfortable with me, they’ll be a lot more comfortable with my camera in their faces. This process tends to take a bit, but not too long. I’d like to spend at least a 30-45 minutes with you, sometimes a bit more if we’re going on a walk or other outdoor activities.

If we’re sticking to the home, no worries! I can pop in anytime that works for you, I especially love mornings since spirits are high and there isn’t any of that daily burnout that comes with having kids. Having activities readily available is always appreciated and snacks are an easy win to grab some attention. My biggest advice would be to not stress about how the images will come together, that’s my job! It’s easy to have a certain expectation going into photo sessions especially as parents. Letting go of that and trusting who you are will shine through the photos will make the whole process much more relaxed. There will be very minimal posing, though near the end of sessions everyone has generally calmed down enough for me to grab a few cute posed photos facing the camera.

Sessions include a mix of digital images along with some film, with 30 minutes of photography coverage. If you’d like to add on a little super 8 film I’m happy to accommodate, sample down below.

Being comfortable and at ease is paramount

That’s much easier said than done when it comes to having a camera shoved in your face. Don’t worry though, I have a very relaxed approach to photography and would rather chat and take my time so that you feel a bit more relaxed. I’ll step in here and there in order to make each image look its best, but I like to keep things moving so that you don’t feel too awkward and stuck in a pose for long.
