let’s talk cost

Black and white photo of a group of people walking in a city street, smiling and interacting with each other.

I like to keep things as simple as possible. I believe in what I do and feel most comfortable giving you as much as possible to remember the day by. That’s why there aren’t any additional upgrades or anything like that, only the amount of time & people needed to accurately document your day.

The bride wears a form-fitting white gown with lace details, and the groom wears a dark suit with a boutonniere. In the background, water, boats, and a distant shoreline are visible.

Current Offerings

I believe in documenting the full guest experience. That’s why I steer away from the 6/8/10 hour packaging for the most part. The best stories are told from beginning to end, trying to cram a full day into an 8 hour window feels strange and forced, I would know. Instead it’s best to have time to stretch legs, chat with your community, and build something that reflects an experience. Preferably I’d like to spend some time before the wedding with you, doing whatever it is you enjoy doing. This isn’t strictly a photoshoot, it’s more just a getting-to-know-each-other-friend-date. A camera does tend to be involved, but only because I’m a photographer/filmmaker and I document the things around me.

Ad-ons

Additional photographer - $1,500

To begin, I don’t feel the need to add on another photographer outside of a couple very specific scenarios. The first being if you want coverage of two different events happening in two different places at the same time, i.e. getting ready separately. The second is if you are having a large, traditional wedding with large, traditional bridal parties. Having a 2nd pair of eyes/point of view is helpful in documenting everything. Otherwise I’m more than comfortable photographing alone.

Travel - $500

For the weddings a bit off the beaten path/outside of northern CA I charge a flat $500. Straightforward and simple.

Film - $800

While I do shoot a small bit of film at every wedding I go to (it’s fun!) this option just ensures you get a solid set of both film and digital photography. This is some of the most artisanal work I create, self scanning and working to make something that feels homemade. Digital is great for producing perfect images, I believe film is best used as a messy, organic media. I lean heavily into light leaks and flaring, most of the cameras that create my favorite work have been cheap plastic toys. This is not a vogue, editorial styling; rather something trying to document how a memory feels in all its imperfections.

Currently offering 120 & 35mm film stock, if you are a fan of the medium format and want a heavier presence of that expect a slightly smaller gallery due to roll size. Film galleries run between 100-200 images.

Additional hours - $700

No worries if your schedule is running behind and you need some wiggle room on the day of, but if you know you want to add on additional hours from the go feel free to add them on. Usually 50-100 images are delivered per hour.

Each of my wedding films is documentary focused. I’ll ask you a few questions here and there, but I won’t ask you to be an actor in your day. Many videographers use a directorial approach, giving instruction and performing multiple takes of simple tasks like throwing on your jacket. I prefer to be a fly on the wall, letting things unfold naturally. If anything I want your honest feelings and live reactions more than anything else.

Videography

Super 8mm $1,900

Just want a classic film in the same vein as your grandparents? This is for you! My super 8 can either be a weekday shoot or added on to any photography package, it is the only video package I can offer alongside photography while shooting alone.

2 hours from yours truly, if adding to a photography package I’ll film concurrently throughout the day.

Choice of 2 super 8mm cartridges, B&W or color, or a mix

Edited 2-4 minute film

Elopement $6,500

This is the best option for a courthouse, elopement, or closest friends/family sort of wedding. These sorts of weddings are small enough for me to shoot alone, as there tends to be genuine reactions between people a bit quicker and more downtime to settle into the moment.

6-8 minute Documentary film

Short Super 8 teaser film

Multi Day Story $10,500

This option is for larger weddings with a bit more of a rounded out storyline. This includes a short session prior to the wedding and a longer filming schedule. This comes with a few added benefits: more footage for a longer final product, more genuine moments captured, an alternate angle for those big moments, and most importantly the freedom to let me focus on storytelling and not setting up/tearing down gear.

Bundled

Most studios outsource a huge chunk of your day when you book both photo and video packages. From the shooters, to the overseas editors and colorists, the majority of the workflow is happening by someone other than the person you hired. While I edit and put together everything on the backend, realistically I also need to outsource a big chunk of shooting on the day of. I can’t do both photo and video at the same time. Trust me, I’ve tried. In addition, I’m not going to trust the shooting of your day, the literal storytelling part, to an up-and-comer I randomly met in a photographers Facebook group. Throughout the past decade or so of shooting, I’ve made a few professional-camera-friends that I trust to help me with filming/photo-ing your day. Since these are professionals in their fields I only like to offer one bundled package so I can afford to pay them what their time is worth.

The image is blank or not loaded.

There’s certain things I would love to guarantee will be a part of your video that simply aren’t up to me. Have a beautiful venue you want aerial shots of? I’ll try my very best, but bad weather, flight restrictions, or any other number of problems could come along. These elements naturally help me tell stories better, so if it’s possible to include it will be. If there’s anything stylistically you feel particularly strong about please let me know and I’ll try my hardest to include it.

Bundled Wedding $17,500

The whole shebang. We’ll hang out before, make some cool things, hopefully meet your crew before the wedding. On the day I’ll bring along a few really cool artists, documentarians who have been making work for their own clients along with a lucky few of mine for years. Hate to brag, but they’re all very cool. We’ll make you a ton of stuff, from motion pictures images to stills. Across a medium of formats you’ll get a bit of classic 35mm film coverage, super 8, and digital media. When all is said and done you’ll have a time capsule with everything you could want.

How to book

To start let’s set up a time to chat about your expectations and hopes for the day. My focus is fairly specific with the genre of weddings I take on, I’d like to focus on the work I’m specialized at in order to best serve the people that choose to work with me. Once we’ve connected and decided it’s a good fit I’ll send over a link to my client management site where you can select your package, fill out a contract, and pay a 50% deposit to reserve your date. Dates aren’t reserved until booking is completed, and due to the personalized nature of my work (aka editing takes a LONG time) I can’t take on more than a few weddings each month. While I do occasionally have shorter term bookings available for small weddings, booking 18 months prior is common so my schedule fills quickly.

Are you a fellow artist? I’d love to barter it up! Let me know what you’ve got and we could work out some sort of discount/trade system.

a quick note

  • Only constantly. I bounce around norcal most weeks, if you’d like to drag me farther I charge a flat $500 for interstate and $750 for outer.

  • Currently I’m happy to meet over facetime or zoom, I tend to be free most Mondays-Thursdays, shoot willing.

  • This is the one time every member of both your families will be in the same space together, to not capture that would be a crime. Typically I like to take big group shots right after your ceremony, but I also try to get photos of everyone naturally throughout the day as well.

  • Absolutely, if your venue needs it let me know, I'll get them a copy asap.

  • Only of the family groups you want photos taken with!

  • I like to deliver full photo galleries within four weeks, video galleries within eight. None of my workflow is outsourced, I’m a bit too obsessive for that, so delivery time varies throughout the year.
